What is 'Eye to Eye'? First of all they are the slow songs. There is an opinion that Scorpions are too far from their roots - hard rock - at
the moment and they attend too much to slow music. This album is an acknowledgement of this point of view. There are persons among the fans who don't like it at all and they have the right to it. But as for me, I am a representative of the third generation of Scorpions lovers and I can say that I was growing up listening to the albums as 'Eye to Eye' or for example 'Pure Instinct' and 'Acoustica'. And in spite of the fact that my tastes have changed, these albums are still living in my heart. But let's talk about 'Eye to Eye'.
First of all I'd like to mention the song that gave a name to the album - 'Eye to Eye'. We hear such Klaus' voice for the first time, it
seems his soul sings instead of Klaus. That's no wonder, because we know that this song was dedicated to Klaus' and Rudolf's fathers. The song 'A Moment In a Million Years' deserves a special attention. Those who had luck to be at a concert of the Scorpions band can realize without any words. Can it be described better, the feeling that one has at that moment, the whole gamut of emotions that blooms inside? Add to this wonderful lyrics this beautiful music and Klaus' voice and you will create a masterpiece, the name of it is 'A Moment In a Million Years'. The songs as 'Obsession', '10 Light Years Away', 'What You
Give You Get Back' and 'Skywriter' give certainly their elegancy to this album. 'Yellow Butterfly' and 'Aleyah' stay a little behind. 'Priscilla' and 'To Be No.1' are very merry and power songs. When you want to get an energy just listen to them. The one thing that surprised me was the presence of the song 'Du bist so schmutzig (Und doch so schon)' in the album.
